Hemphill County Civil Docket Searches
Hemphill County offers no local public civil-case search form. Start on the combined County and District Clerk page. If no docket link appears there, call Sylvia Guerrero's office at 806-323-6212. Staff can route your request. They may send it to district civil, district family, constitutional county, or probate as the case requires. Copy the cause number exactly from a file stamp, notice, order, or judgment. The county has not published its current civil number format, so an exact copy matters. Without a number, give the full party name. Add an alternate spelling if helpful. Also include the approximate filing year, the court level, and the case type. Ask for a public docket sheet or register, not just whether a case exists.
- Identify the civil court and case type.
- Check eligible statewide results by party or case number.
- Call or visit the combined clerk when no local result appears.
- Review filings, service, motions, settings, and judgment.
- Request the exact plain or certified copy needed.
One Hemphill Civil Clerk Office
One elected office handles both county and district clerk duties in Hemphill County. That does not merge everything into a single legal docket. District civil and family cases belong to the 31st District Court. Probate runs through the county-court side. So do other constitutional county matters. Sharing one address makes access easier. You still have to name the right court.

Civil Dockets: What They Show
Hemphill County does not offer a live civil docket you can read field by field. Treat the inventory here as a checklist of items to confirm with the clerk. It is not a promise that every field appears in the local system or in the statewide layer.
| Cause Number | The exact identifier from current case papers; local format is unpublished. |
|---|---|
| Parties | Plaintiff and defendant, or petitioner and respondent, subject to privacy rules. |
| Filings | Petition, answer, citation, return of service, motions, and responses. |
| Settings | Hearing, docket call, pretrial, or trial dates and later resets. |
| Result | Order, nonsuit, dismissal, judgment, or notice of appeal. |
A docket is a chronological trail of events. The petition, a signed order, an exhibit, a transcript, or the judgment itself is a separate document request. Seeing an event listed does not mean its image is online or free to view.
Hemphill Civil Filing and Copy Fees
Under the district civil schedule effective January 1, 2022, an original civil or family filing costs $350. Citation and service are billed separately. That total splits in two. It carries $213 in local consolidated fees and $137 in state consolidated fees. Later filings cost less. The schedule lists $80 for a counterclaim, cross-action, intervention, contempt action, motion for new trial, motion to reinstate, or third-party filing. Ask before you assume which category your paper falls into.
| Item | Published amount |
|---|---|
| Original district civil/family filing | $350, plus citation and service |
| Plain copy | $1 per page or part |
| Electronic copy | $1 per document through 10 pages, then $0.10 per page |
| Certificate | $5 |
| Search | $5 |
These figures come from the district schedule alone. They are not a universal price list for probate or county-court work. Check with the combined clerk for the fee tied to your exact Hemphill County civil docket request. The county publishes no exemplified-copy price or turnaround promise.
What Cases Fill the Civil Docket
District civil work covers contract, debt, property, tort, and other general disputes. All of it sits within district jurisdiction. Family matters also sit in the Hemphill district clerk's system. Those dockets can record petitions, service, answers, temporary orders, hearings, and judgments. Sensitive data may still be restricted from view. Whole documents can be too.
- General district civil claims
- Family cases handled by the district court
- Probate matters routed through constitutional county court
- Lower-value civil, debt, eviction, and small-claims matters in Justice Court
- Appeals or post-judgment filings within the proper court
Do not treat probate as just another district civil category. A justice-court claim does not migrate into the district clerk system simply because both courts sit in Hemphill County. The court level controls who keeps the record, which rules apply, and what is available.
Hemphill Civil Docket Activity
Court Activity Reporting and Directory figures measure workload, not named cases. The cumulative district report through January 31, 2025 opened with 86 active civil cases. It added 772, disposed 601, and closed with 120 active. Family figures in the same report started at 130. They added 430, disposed 322, and ended at 18. Numbers only. No parties, no outcomes.
The constitutional county report for fiscal 2024-25 tells a similar story on a smaller scale. It lists 14 civil cases at the start. The report adds 8 and disposes 6. It ends at 4. These reports use different court categories and different periods. You cannot stack them into a current Hemphill County civil docket count. Nor can you read any party's status from them.
Hearings on the Civil Docket
A notice of setting should name the date, time, courtroom, judge, and type of setting. Hemphill County publishes no public daily civil calendar. A statewide result may show a hearing. Even so, confirm the current setting with the combined clerk. A continuance or reset can leave an older notice stale. Docket call, motion hearing, pretrial, mediation, and trial each serve a different purpose. Ask what is actually set and whether attendance rules have changed. The Hemphill County court schedule route explains how to check settings more broadly. The district judge's office can help with court routing. Filing and copy questions still belong with the clerk.
Hemphill Civil Statewide Search
re:SearchTX is the statewide layer for eligible indexed material. After signing in or registering, you can search Cases, Filings, Text in Documents, or Hearings. Filters help narrow the field. Case Details and Filing Details help you pin down a record. Then take what you find to the clerk.
Coverage and image access vary. A statewide no-result does not establish that Hemphill County has no civil file, and an export is not a certified copy.
The OCA lists Local Government Solutions as Hemphill's local case-management system. The county itself offers no public LGS interface for civil docket lookup. eFileTexas handles electronic filing, and filing alone does not make every document image free to the public. Verify metadata and copies with the local clerk's office.
Who Can See Civil Dockets
Most civil docket events in Hemphill County are open to the public. Access can still narrow. It depends on the case type, the filing, and any order in force. Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 21c requires parties to omit or redact sensitive data. That rule applies in many public filings. Texas Rule 76a provides the procedure for sealing court records. Juvenile matters and some family filings carry added statutory limits.
Key rules:
Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 21c protects sensitive identifiers in public filings.
Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 76a governs sealing through court findings and an order.
Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 governs many judicial-record requests outside excluded categories.
A docket entry can list a filing title yet hold back the document image. Blank or restricted content does not mean a scanning failure. Ask the clerk's office what may be inspected or copied, and which redaction, seal, or confidentiality rule applies.
Confirm Hemphill Civil Docket Records
Use every channel the county documents. A statewide search may surface eligible metadata. The clerk's counter offers direct help, 806-323-6212 routes calls, and PO Box 867 accepts a written request. Ask about a public terminal, since the clerk advertises none. For non-case judicial records, submit a specific written request and ask whether Rule 12 applies.
Before relying on anything, check the original Hemphill County civil docket. Match the cause number, court, case type, parties, latest setting, and judgment against it. Request certification when you need an authenticated copy. Search and export tools help with discovery. The combined County and District Clerk remains the authority over the record it keeps.
